Press Release

March 30, 2017 - First Columbia Launches Year Seven For Teen Star

Bloomsburg, PA – First Columbia Bank & Trust Co. is pleased to announce the 7th Annual First Columbia Teen Star Musical Competition. Inspired by the hit TV show American Idol®, First Columbia Bank is proud to sponsor this fun and entertaining community event. The contest is open to high school students in Columbia County, and this year students in Montour County are invited to participate, as the Bank is opening a new branch in Danville this spring. Sign-ups for auditions are open until Friday, April 21st. Registrations can be completed online at www.firstcolumbiabank.com.

This year the format has been modified to make the competition for vocalists only. This change was made because not enough instrumentalists have participated—even after a separate instrumentalist category was established three years ago. The Bank is an avid supporter of our schools’ music programs and appreciates the talent of instrumentalists; however, the interest level is simply not sufficient for the competitive format of the program.

Auditions are closed to the public and will be held on Wednesday, April 26th and Saturday, April 29th at the Millville Area Junior Senior High School auditorium. The top 12 finalists will be chosen by a panel of independent judges from the music profession and entertainment industry. These finalists will then perform at the finale at Bloomsburg University’s Haas Auditorium on Sunday, May 21st.

The first place prize for the Teen Star winner is $2,000, up from $1,500 last year. The second, third and fourth place finishers win $1,000, $750, and $350, respectively. And, the remaining eight finalists each receive $100. All proceeds from the show will be directed to the music departments at the finalists’ schools. To-date, more than $30,000 has been given back to the schools through Teen Star.

Teen Star has become the Bank’s annual signature event, and they have received several awards from the banking industry for Teen Star and for the impact it has on the youth and the community. First Columbia looks forward to showcasing the tremendous talent of our young people and to bringing a fun and entertaining show to our community.
